Edgar Wallace (1875–1932) was a British novelist, journalist, playwright, and screenwriter renowned for his prolific output of crime, mystery, and adventure fiction. After beginning his career as a newspaper reporter and war correspondent, he became one of the most widely read popular authors of the early twentieth century, publishing hundreds of novels, short stories, and plays. Among his best-known works are The Four Just Men, The Green Archer, and the J. G. Reeder detective stories. Wallace also contributed to the early development of the film industry and was involved in the initial screenplay for King Kong shortly before his death.
