Henry Vizetelly (1820–1894) was an English publisher, printer, journalist, illustrator, and translator who played a significant role in nineteenth-century British publishing. Throughout his career, he helped introduce English readers to European literature by publishing and translating works from prominent French authors. As the founder of Vizetelly & Co., he became known for promoting contemporary fiction and expanding access to international literature. Vizetelly also contributed as a war correspondent and illustrator, documenting major events of his era through both writing and art. Although his publication of controversial French novels led to landmark obscenity prosecutions in Victorian England, his efforts left a lasting impact on literary publishing, translation, and the exchange of ideas across cultures.
